Northern lights in Abisko – One of the world’s best places to photograph northern lights is Abisko. Snow-covered landscapes, northern lights that pulse across the sky with their often dancing movements are an experience in themselves.
Take the chance to capture the northern lights in a picture with landscapes such as Torneträsk and surrounding beautiful surroundings. One evening we take the lift up to Aurora sky station which is a top station of 900 m above sea level with beautiful views of both Torneträsk and Lapporten.
It is thanks to the dry climate that is here that makes it one of the world’s best places to see the northern lights. Just Abisko is ranked as a desert due to the small amount of rainfall that falls here each year, which gives greater chances of clear skies and the opportunities to see the northern lights. With the help of the latest weather and northern light forecasts, we go to motives that have the best chances for northern lights.
Northern lights are a natural phenomenon and there are no guarantees due to sometimes maliciously changing weather. But for what stays for three days, 100% have seen the northern lights according to local Northern companies. As I said, the chances are great that we will succeed in experiencing this beautiful natural phenomenon.

Day 1
Masterphoto will meet you at Kiruna Airport at 13:20 and then we continue towards our accommodation. Dinner and welcome meeting. Workshop how to photograph northern lights to prepare for the coming days. Northern Lights photography selected based on the evening’s weather conditions and Northern Lights forecast.
Day 2
Breakfast. Workshop how to image Northern lights images in Lightroom.
Lunch at our accommodation. Dinner and then a slideshow of the first evening’s pictures with creative feedback with tips and advice for upcoming photography. We take the lift up to Aurora sky station at about 20:45.
Day 3
Breakfast and some rest. Afternoon trip depending on the weather to catch the nice evening light.
Image viewing and creative feedback with tips and advice for upcoming photography. Northern Lights photography selected based on the evening’s weather conditions and Northern Lights forecast.
Day 4
Breakfast and then transfer to Kiruna airport. Flights depart at 13:40.
